Food Fund Friday: The Story of American Craft Beer

Beer lovers unite! As the craft beer industry has exploded in popularity, so has the tension between the smallest breweries and big beer companies trying to get in on the game. How big can craft beer get before it no longer fits in the category? How can brewers keep their fans happy as their popularity rises? These are some of the questions that will be explored in Brewlanda documentary about the history and future of craft beer.

They will explore not only the origins of beer in the United States but how the brewing process actually works. You’ll find stories of the best and worst brewers as well as the trends that led to the industry’s enormous growth. As these breweries grow to meet demand, some are reaching the limits of what defines “craft” beer by numbers. Is this an industry that’s defined by size or something more?

They’re currently raising funding to finish and edit the video through Indiegogo. With enough money, they might be able to get out of their East Coast funk and visit craft breweries in the middle of the United States as well as heading out to the West Coast. It’s a great subject for beer drinkers and food folks alike.
